An Atlanta Public Schools spokeswoman said the coach, who is not a Mays High School coach, will be charged with simple assault and face administrative disciplinary action.

Holcomb noted that some assistants’ training does not require education or teacher certification. The Georgia High School Association only requires community coaches to complete a training program to achieve the required accreditation.
