State champion Class 6A D1 Duncanville opened the season with a win over state champion Class 5A D2 South Oak Cliff. SOC is currently ranked #2 and Duncanville is ranked #1
Also in 6A, in another power zone, Class 6A D2 state champion DeSoto defeated Allen, who was knocked out of the playoffs last year in the bi-district round.
Southlake Carroll and Guyer, eighth and ninth respectively in Class 6, also won their Week 1 matchups. Six other North Texas teams are in the top 25 in Class 6A.
In Class 5A, D1 state champion Aledo won his week one contest against Dallas Parish Episcopal, while Lancaster (No. 2), Timberview (No. 4), Rady (No. 7), and Ryan (No. 8) won the first. one. game
At 5AD2, No. 1-ranked Melissa defeated Argyle, while Emerson (No. 4), Heritage (No. 7) and Summit (No. 9) also won a game of their week. No. 3 Argyle dropped out of the top 10 with a loss.
